Trojan Softball

Season of the Lady Trojans

    The Community R-VI softball team’s overall record was 4-14. Their four wins were over Marion County, Wright City, and Montgomery City two times. They started out on a good note by winning their first game of the season 9-8 against Marion County. Senior Paige Curtis pitched all 7 innings, striking out 11 and walking one, while senior Paige Harris went 3 for 4 with three RBI’s and a home run.

Cross Country

Almost to the Finish Line

    This year's Cross Country team, coached by Kris Cross of Vandalia, had seven members: Kaitlyn Orr (12), Leah Mays (11), Ryan Kitchen (12), Nick Jensen (12), Cameron Foreman (12), Sean Wilson (12), and Lance Gibson (12) The team ran in many meets including the Hamburger Meet in Clopton on October 16th..

Co-Op Football

Van-Far and Community R-VI Join Forces for Football

    The Community R-VI/Van-Far co-op football program’s overall record was 3-6 with wins over MMA, Wright City, and Winfield. They put a beating on MMA 46-6 for their first win of the season. Their next win would come two games later at Homecoming against Wright City 28-14. Logan Boyd (Van-Far) rushed for 120 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown. He caught for 126 yards on three catches and two touchdowns.

Jay Asher Visit

Meeting Jay Asher

    On Monday, October 1, 2012, Jay Asher spoke at the Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson City, Missouri. Asher is the author of Thirteen Reasons Why and is the co-author of his newest novel The Future of Us. A group of students, including me, and the language arts teachers from Community R-VI High School attended his visit to Jefferson City. We learned about his struggle publishing his first novel and how he never gave up.

Fright Fest

All Dressed Up

    On October 29th clubs at Community R-VI hosted a second annual Fright Fest. Student Council had a fortune teller, Art Club had a face painting area, and STRIVE had cheese sticks, juice, and a bowling game. While this was going on, FBLA had a pumpkin shoot-out trying to shoot the water from a water gun to put out a candle in a pumpkin and they also had bobbing for pumpkins (using your hands). FTA had a bean bag toss and FCCLA had a candy walk and a bean bag toss.

FFA National Convention

FFA National Convention

        FFA National Convention was held October 24-27, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana at eh Indiana Convention Center (ICC). About 55,000 FFA members attended this convention and twelve of them were from Community R-VI. The president of the chapter Julie Hale (11) attended and well as the following: Katy Carline (11), Kaleb Harris (11), Trever Hoyt (10), Courtney Bertels (9), Connor Brooks (10), Lane Thebeau (10), Clay Thebeau (10), and Brandon Arens (10).
