Girls Basketball

A Confident Start to a New Team

    The 2012 high school girl’s basketball season starts on Tuesday, November 27. As everyone gets ready for the hollering and clapping, the girls have been practicing fiercely to succeed even farther than last year’s record of 11 wins and 14 losses, and their conference record of 5 wins and 4 losses.

Boys Basketball

New Coach, New Conference, and a New Season

    The Community R-IV Trojans basketball team has a new coach, Dave Smith due to the departure of James Benson. Coach Smith calls himself a defensive-minded coach and looks to have a strong defense. They look to be a very competitive basketball team and compete for the Class 1 state title.

Barnwarming

Barns of Fun

     Barnwarming is an event held every year and is hosted by Future Farmers of America (FFA). This year it was held on November 2nd from seven-thirty to ten. This event is open to FFA members and their dates only; FFA members have to ask a date to this event or they have to kiss a goat. The night was full of dancing and playing games.

Veterans Day

Salute To Our Veterans

    Every year, Community R-6 Student Council has a Veteran’s Day event. They start by having a Veteran’s Day Breakfast that starts at 8 a.m. for all of the local Veterans. Then, they call all of the students down for an assembly at 9 a.m..

Community R-VI Choir

Musicians Striving for Greatness!

    Each year the Community R-VI Choir attends the EMO Conference and the Community R-VI Band attends the NEMO Conference to broaden the students’ experiences in their own talents. 
    November 17, 2012 the choir went to Silex, MO to perform with a group of students from various schools. The students split into groups based on their voice, such as alto, soprano, tenor, or bass.

Hurricane Sandy

    Hurricane Sandy has had a huge impact on the United States. On November 1, 2012 she left us with about 88 deaths and millions of people without power. In addition, Sandy has cost us economically about $50 billion in property damage and has also caused many businesses loss due to the lack of electricity, such as the gas industry.

NHS Induction

Welcoming New Members

    National Honor Society, sponsored by Mrs. Briggs, is a club that includes students who can maintain at least a 3.3 grade point average throughout their junior and senior year. On November 5, 2012 the National Honor Society (NHS) held an induction for the junior and senior members of Community R-VI who met the qualifications.
