Mrs. Sonja Sommer

Mrs. Sommer’s father was in the United States Air Force, which led to a life all over the globe. She graduated kindergarten in Germany, elementary school in South Carolina, junior high in Maryland, high school in Minnesota, and college in Missouri. Her undergraduate degree was earned at the University of Missouri and her graduate degree was earned at Columbia College.

After getting married in 1973, she began a life on the farm here in Missouri. She and her husband Ron have one son named Joe. They continue to grow row corn, hay, and livestock.

Throughout the years, she has tutored, substituted, and taught all ages from preschool to adults. She began teaching in the junior/senior high school special education classroom at Community R-VI in 1999 and became an eMINTS 4 all teachers in 2008. This is currently her 14th year here and we are sad to say that she will be retiring at the end of this year.
