Mrs. Bethany Curtis

Mrs. Curtis grew up in a suburb of St. Louis.  She wanted to be a teacher since she was in fourth grade because she loved school and loved her teacher, Mrs. Schrader.   Mrs. Curtis went to Culver-Stockton College and received a degree in elementary education.  She was a substitute teacher for several school districts in St. Louis, but when her parents relocated to this area, she followed and got a job at Community R-VI teaching sixth grade. She soon after met her husband, Eric, at the school when he was hired as the new bus mechanic.

After five years, the sixth grade became part of the middle school and she became a middle school math teacher.  Mrs. Curtis always hated math in school, so it was a surprise that she enjoyed teaching it so much.  She taught middle school math classes, as well as high school pre-algebra for eight years.  This year, she has moved to the high school. She still teaches pre-algebra, but also does Missouri Options, Study Hall, and Credit Recovery. She never planned to stay in the area and she certainly never dreamed she would teach math, but she says she loves it!
